Content Marketing Blogs

Modloft: Meek Mill

In this feature of artist Meek Mill’s apartment furnished by Modloft, I wove product features into an enjoyable narrative to drive awareness for the modern furniture brand while engaging readers with a compelling story first and foremost. The blog also incorporates keywords to improve SEO.

Colonial Williamsburg Foundation: How to Savor Summer

Trip-planning blogs like this are part of the content strategy I’ve developed for Colonial Williamsburg, inviting prospective guests and locals to plan a visit with inviting itineraries. A CTA near the top of the blog, the listicle style format, use of concise, easy-to-read language, and casual tone are textbook examples of content marketing best practices. I’m also sure to integrate — and specifically plan blogs around — keywords in which we seek to increase ranking.

Colonial Williamsburg Foundation: How to Use the CW Planner

This instructional blog is geared toward guests planning trips to Colonial Williamsburg. I used clear steps and instructional screenshots to walk readers through the tool, which I helped conceptualize as part of our website redesign project.

Content Management

Art Museums of Colonial Williamsburg: Amazing Stories, Beautifully Told

I created a template to guide our museum curators in writing reader-friendly blogs in order to showcase the expertise of our experts while making the writing process simple and manageable. The result was a set of 9 blogs that we used to promote the Art Museums organically on social media and in emails to support our “Amazing Stories, Beautifully Told” campaign in market.

Colonialwilliamsburg.org: Event Management

When Colonial Williamsburg contracted a web design firm to create a new website to marry our existing marketing and educational presences, I served as a key stakeholder and advocated for our customers. One key piece of this project was defining how our bespoke events management system’s fields would affect the calendar display for users. I tackled the taxonomy, categories, tags, and ticket types that would become our CW Planner, an interactive space where guests can filter events and sites to plan their day, a vast improvement from the previous calendar.

I also wrote an event description instruction guide and trained event submitters in active voice, guest-friendly event titling, and our brand style guide to improve the quality of program descriptions.

R•Home Magazine: Plant Ladying

This is one installment of a homeownership column I wrote for R•Home magazine. This first-person body of work is a great example of my voice as well as my ability to incorporate advice from experts, like the landscape designer I interviewed for this piece.

VCU Alumni Relations: REAL-World Experience

For this feature article for Virginia Commonwealth University’s alumni magazine, I interviewed several students about their hands-on learning experience through a new initiative. My work for this publication demonstrates my journalistic background, and ability to synthesize complex topics.

social growth

During my first 18 months of managing social media channels at Colonial Williamsburg, I gained 50K followers in net audience growth, or 17% growth, which was up 31% over the previous 18-month period. Within two years, I brought the Foundation’s Instagram from 52K to 100K followers. I’m proud of these numbers because they represent constant trial. Social media is all about failing fast. By constantly analyzing what our audience wanted, I was able to create data-driven solutions that appealed to each channel’s unique audience.
